Should you move to Mississauga?

Education:

When families consider moving, they often want to know what kinds of schools are in the area they would move to, and if these schools would be any good. Knowing this is important as it determines the quality of education their children would receive, thus effecting the kids’ future job prospects. Mississauga has many great elementary and secondary schools that pride in academic excellence, and which are in general very highly rated.

According to the statistics provided by the Frazer Institute, St. Edmund, Khalsa School Malton, Olive Grove, St. Rose of Lima, Kenollie, St. Christopher, and Plum Tree Park, are just some of the many schools that are in general rated above an 8.0 out of 10. St. Marcellinus, Cawthra Park, St. Aloysius Gonzaga, John Fraser, Gordon Graydon Memorial, Glenforest, and Port Credit, are the secondary schools in Mississauga which are rated above an 8.0. Mississauga also provides excellent post-secondary education, as one of the U of T campuses is located there. Being smaller than the St. George campus, the Mississauga campus allows students to get to know their professors well and receive a lot of help from them, and allows them to create close knit friendships with other students. The Sheridan campus in Mississauga is the “home of the business faculty, and its further expansions are to be completed in 2016”.

employment

Employment:

The city of Mississauga “is part of the largest labour force market in Canada, the GTA, and it has become one of the most significant employment growth centers within the GTA”. In 2010, there were 734, 000 people living in Mississauga, and for “every 100 people there were 57 jobs”.

This ration has remained pretty much the same up until 2015, with many of the jobs coming from the business sector. Mississauga also has “a greater amount of its labour force involved in manufacturing, professional, scientific and technical services, and insurance sectors compared to Ontario and Canada”.

This means that Mississauga provides many job opportunities, and that these opportunities come from a variety of sectors. “Mississauga’s location places it at the center of a region with over 6 million people, with direct transportation linkages to the world’s major markets, making it a prime location for future business growth and investment attraction”.

Entertainment:

Mississauga also provides various types of entertainment, and leisurely activity.

For the shoppers, Square One is one of the largest shopping malls in Canada, and it is conveniently located at the heart of Mississauga.

Other popular shopping centers in Mississauga are the Erin Mills Town Centre, the Heartland Town Centre, as well as the Dixie Outlet Mall.
