Things to do in mississauga

Steven Ho Mississauga

Winter has finally come to an end, which means we can finally start to plan  all the things we want to do this spring and summer.  I would just like share some of the activities I thought of partaking in, within the next few months.

1. CINCO DE MAYO

[two]

If you want an excuse to drink and party, you can look forward to Cinco de Mayo.

Although the holiday officially commemorates the Mexican army’s victory of the French troops, in the U.S. and Canada the holiday has largely become a reason for people to let loose, party and down tequila shots.

If this sounds like a fun time to you, I recommend going to any Mexican restaurant to get into the spirit and really get most out of the experience. I recommend La Cartina, Tenoch Restaurant, and El Trompo in Toronto, and  El Sombrero and Senor Burrito, in Mississauga.

2. CHERRY BLOSSOMS AT HIGH PARK

CHERRY BLOSSOMS AT HIGH PARK

Within the last few years, more and more people have come down to check out the very gorgeous blossom trees that bloom in High Park during the spring.

If you want to relax your mind and see something beautiful within the compounds of the city, I recommend going to High Park and seeing them for yourself.

3. FOOD FESTIVALS

[two]

Are you a health nut, a foodie, or are you just curious about trying different foods?

Then food festivals may be the right kind of activity for you! There are numerous food festivals going on in May, like the Raw and Vegan Food Festival, the Spirit of Toronto, or the Brewer’s Plate.

There are also Rib Fests, the Taste of Toronto and the Oyster Fest to look forward to, during the summer months.

4. ART SHOW

If you’re into art, go check out the art show recent Toronto University graduates put on at the beginning of May. “From fashion to illustration, this is your chance to see Toronto’s upcoming artists”.

5. AFRICAN LION SAFARI

I am really considering going to African Lion Safari this year. You get to experience and get close to animals from all around the world.

I’ve hear that it’s better going there or to the Zoo in the spring, because all the animals tend to hide in the shade during the hot summer months.

African Lion Safari opens May 7th!!

6. BLACK CREEK PIONEER VILLAGE

[two]

Are you a history buff, or would you like to know more about the 1860’s Ontario? Then check out the Black Creek Pioneer Village, “an authentically re-created 1860’s Ontario country village”. You get to see what the homes, tradeshops and farm buildings looked like back then, and you also get a chance to try beer brewed “the 1860’s way”!

7. TREETOP TREKKING BRAMPTON

If you like adventure, want to get out of the city, or want to conquer your fear of heights, I recommend Treetop Trekking in Brampton this spring. It’s a three hour long experience that includes ziplining across heart lake, swinging bridges, tarzan swings, and much more! I am definitely looking forward to treetop trekking this spring!

8. CANADIAN MUSIC WEEK?

Are you really into music? Go to Canadian music week from May 4to to 14th! There are expected to be over “800 artists and 60 venues,” it is thus far the largest Canadian music festival.

Want to experience and get a taste of the various cultures inhibiting Mississauga? Then go to the Carassauga Festival from May 27th to 29th and try national dishes from all around the world. You really get to embrace the rich ethnic mosaic that Mississauga has to offer.
