THINGS TO DO IN JUNE

Steven Ho Mississauga

The weather is finally gorgeous! We have to enjoy the sunshine as much as possible before the long winter returns once again. Here is a short list of some things I thought of doing this June. Read on, perhaps you’d enjoy some of them too!

ROAD TRIP TO NIAGARA

[two]

There are so many amazing things to do in Niagara. Taking a walk along the falls and going on a boat tour or behind  the falls tour is something really cool to do if you haven’t already done so, or if you haven’t done it in a while. Seeing the falls lit up at night is a great sight, and touring some of the museums and attractions at Clifton Hill is great fun as well!

Niagara has a ton of amazing bars and restaurants and there are many other activates and fun things that one can be a part of in Niagara. There is wine tasting, The Fallsview Indoor Water Park, Marineland, white water rafting, horseback riding, going to the bird kingdom, the butterfly conservatory, going to the theatre to watch the show, or going on a ghost tour. Niagara on the Lake is actually the most haunted town in Canada, so if you have a knack for the creepy, I definitely recommend going on a ghost tour of Fort George!

MISSISSAUGA IN JUNE

There are also pretty cool things to do in June locally. From June 3rd-5th there is the 44th annual Bread and Honey Festival taking place in the Streetsville Memorial Park on the beautiful Credit River. There is also the Walk for Alzheimer’s taking place June 4th. This 5k walk is Canada’s largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias taking place at the Lakefront Promenade Park. The numbers of individuals affected by the illness are only increasing, so brining awareness to it is essential.

If you are a fan of Downton Abbey, then going to the Downton Abbey Afternoon Tea may be fun for you! You get a tour of a historic house that resembles the house from the show whilst indulging in afternoon tea and discussing the love interests of the Crawley women. This event will take place June 5th, if you would be interested email museums@mississauga.ca, to book a reservation. There is also the Mississauga Waterfront Festival taking place June 17th-19th. There is great food, fun rides and bands playing so come down to Port Credit and enjoy the festival!

TREE TOP TREKKING

If you like adventure, want to get out of the city, or want to conquer your fear of heig  hts, I recommend Treetop Trekking in Brampton this spring and summer. It’s a three hour long experience that includes ziplining across Heart Lake, swinging bridges, tarzan swings, and much more! I am definitely looking forward to treetop trekking this spring!

BIKING FROM CAMBRIDGE TO PARIS

[two]

This 22.2km bike/hike trail alongside Grand River is absolutely amazing! It’s a flat and an easy ride, nothing too challenging, but the entire trail is surrounded by trees. All you see is greenery and water so if you want to completely relax your mind and getaway, this is the perfect place to do so.

ELORA GORGE

Take a trip to the Elora Gorge Conservation Area. It has an amazing scenic hike trail and a beautiful lake that people swim in during warm spring and summer months. It is 25km from Guelph and the lake is surrounded by cliffs off which swimmers often opt to cliff jump from.
