Buyer Mistakes – the Top 3 Mistakes a Buyer Makes when Looking for a  House

Today we’re going over buyer mistakes. There is a lot that goes into looking for a house. It can be an extremely stressful experience. You’re trying to appease yourself and others: maybe your significant other wants two bathrooms, your kids want a large backyard with a slide, and your parents want an in-law suite. What can you get, and what can you actually afford, and how can you compromise and get the best home that works for everyone?

These are the top 3 buyer mistakes:

1: Not focusing on the big picture. You’re buying location and the bones of the house, not buying the house for the fridge, though that can be a big perk. You’re also not buying based on whether it has hardwood vs. laminate, the colour of the garage, or the pretty flowers in the garden, though I’ve heard buyers gush over all three of those reasons.

2: Relying too much on other’s opinions – mom and dad haven’t been house shopping in a while, most likely, so, most likely, they haven’t seen what’s going on in the market and what is actually affordable. Stop trying to appease everyone, and focus on what’s best for you and your family!

3: Not contacting a professional on what renovations can or can’t be done. Not all walls are meant to be taken out!
