Why Many Families Call Mississauga Home!

Steven Ho Mississauga

Fun facts about me: I was born in Scarborough and moved to Mississauga when I was five years old, lived and grew up around the Streetsville area, and currently I live in the Square One area with my wife Claire and our cat Alba. So I too live, work and play in Mississauga!

History of Mississauga

Mississauga is Canada’s 7th most populous city.

The Town of Mississauga was created in 1968, and the City of Mississauga was incorporated in 1974, through the amalgamation of the Town of Mississauga and the villages of Port Credit and Streetsville, together with portions of the townships of Toronto Gore and Trafalgar.

Fast Growth

The growth of the city is attributed to its proximity to Toronto and in the last 40 years, Mississauga has built up a large business district and is home to over 60 fortune 500 companies’ Canadian headquarters.

Demographic

Over 68.5% of residents are of working age which is 2nd highest in the world, and many have chosen Mississauga to raise their family.

Demographics are quite diverse with people from all over the world, if you’re a foodie like me, there are over 1,200 restaurants and cuisines from over 150 different countries. You can also find many different ethnic specific grocery stores if you want to make it at home.

Toronto Pearson International Airport is actually in Mississauga!

Canada’s busiest airport is also in Mississauga so if you travel a lot, or would like to, you’ll have to get used to being the one to pick up visitors from the airport.
